3rd Managing Committee Meeting of Blue Peace in the Middle East

The 3rd Managing Committee Meeting of “Blue Peace in the Middle East: Regional Cooperation on Water” was held online on 3rd of August, 2021. The meeting, organized by the Coordination Office (SUEN), in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), was attended by senior representatives from member countries Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey as well as officials from SDC and Coordination Office.

Below matters were discussed in the meeting:

• Outcomes of the 1st Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting held on June 3rd, 2021 under the chairmanship of HRH Hassan Bin Talal and the future role of the committee,
• Progress of the Project of Water Use Efficiency in Agriculture in the Middle East conducted by SUEN as the Coordination Office,
• Possible participation in and collaboration with other initiatives and events,
• New thematic activities for the future.

It was decided that, based on the discussions in the meeting, proposals for new thematic activities will be worked on and submitted to the MC members’ review by the Coordination Office and the 2nd training under the theme of “improving irrigation efficiency” will be held in the second half of 2021 in Turkey including observational study tours to see good practices in situ.
