Tunisia Hosts GreenXMENA Forum, 2025: Youth Take the Lead on Water and Climate Resilience
Tunisia, 29 October 2025 – GreenXMENA Forum 2025 launches in Tunisia, bringing together over 150 young leaders, experts, and stakeholders from across the Arab region to tackle pressing challenges in water and climate resilience. This first-of-its-kind youth-driven forum provides a platform for regional solidarity, intergenerational collaboration, and actionable solutions to water challenges amidst climate change, population growth, and increasing pressure on transboundary water resources.
Blue Peace Middle East (Blue Peace ME) is participating as an official partner, reinforcing its presence across the region and empowering youth to lead on transboundary water diplomacy and policy innovation. Blue Peace ME youth ambassadors are leading the way, moderating a Water Diplomacy Foundations Masterclass, a UN Water Conference simulation, engaging participants in interactive exercises on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus, and contributing to various panel discussions on youth in water diplomacy and water management.
“This is where youth voices advocate for water challenges and turn it into opportunities for cooperation. It’s the true mission of Blue Peace Middle East in action," said Joy Al Ahmar, Lebanese Blue Peace ME Youth Ambassador.
“GreenXMENA 2025 is the first youth-led sustainability forum in the region, focusing on climate and water resilience.”, said Samraa Smadi, Jordanian Blue Peace ME Youth Ambassador. " Through dialogue, discussion, and a critical lens, we aim to move the needle towards actionable solutions, starting with both SDG 6 and SDG 13.”
With participants from over 12 countries, including 50% women and 40% from marginalized groups, the forum emphasizes inclusive dialogue and capacity building. Throughout the event, Blue Peace ME, funded by Switzerland, reaffirms its role as a regional platform for dialogue, youth empowerment, and concrete action on transboundary water, supporting countries in transforming water management into a cornerstone of climate resilience and regional cooperation.
Eng. Osama Freihat, Technical Assistant at Blue Peace ME’s Coordination Office hosted at INWRDAM, commented: "Our role at Blue Peace ME is to help turn ideas into real regional impact. Our presence here today is a testament to our belief in the ability of youth to transform dialogues into practical initiatives on the ground."
