Ghadah Alameri - Iraq

Ghadah Alameri from Iraq is a mechanical engineer who works in the public sector in the field of drinking water management, focusing on sustainability and community needs. She's also engaged in climate and energy initiatives at the local level. Thanks to her many study-related travels, including IHE-Delft among many others, Ghadah had the chance to gain a multicultural perspective.
Mehrasa Mohseni Fard - Iran

Mehrasa Mohseni Fard, joining from Iran, holds a Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering. She currently works in the field of river engineering, where she focuses on riverbed and riparian zone delineation. In her professional role, she works on both hydrology and hydraulics, and has hands-on experience with surface and groundwater modeling to support sustainable water resources management.
Farah Al-Assad - Syria

Farah Al-Assad, joining from Syria, is the Founder and CEO of the Syrian Climate Pioneers Foundation, an organization working across seven governorates in Syria to build climate resilience and promote sustainable development—particularly in conflict-affected areas.With a background in English Literature and ongoing studies in Leadership and Policy at Harvard University, Farah has spent the past nine years empowering youth and championing SDG-focused initiatives.
Samraa Smadi - Jordan

Samraa Smadi, representing Jordan, recently completed her Master’s in Environmental Metrology and Policy at Georgetown University, where she conducted her thesis on microplastic isolation systems. Her academic and professional journey has centered on stream biology, with a specialization in stream morphology and restoration. Samraa has a strong interest in transboundary water disputes and water geopolitics, deepening her knowledge through focused coursework and research. Her experience spans social innovation, entrepreneurship, and stakeholder engagement, supporting community-driven development initiatives.
Haci Ahmet Unlu - Türkiye

Haci Ahmet Unlu, from Türkiye, holds an MSc in International Politics with a focus on broader Middle Eastern affairs. He has professional experience in research, the Embassy in Kazakhstan, and the EU Delegation in Ankara. Haci has been active in water diplomacy through programs like FAO WFF, Young European Ambassadors, and A Seat at The Table. He also mentors 15 individuals on peacebuilding and transboundary activism via the African Middle Eastern Leadership Project.
Joy Al Ahmar - Lebanon

Joy Al Ahmar, from Lebanon, recently completed her degree in Environmental Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut. Her work centers on environmental justice, youth advocacy, and water diplomacy. Joy has led a national literacy initiative, served as Youth Ambassador to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation, and presented at the 57th UN Human Rights Council. She won first place at IBDAA 2025 for her policy proposal on “Water as a Weapon of War” and plans to pursue a master’s in Environmental Policy and Planning. Joy is excited to be part of this fellowship.
